PSU oil companies contribute to PM-CARES

More than 1 million people have been infected and at least 51,000 have died in more than 170 countries from the coronavirus. According to the health officials, social distancing remains the best way to slow the spread. In India, when the country is under complete lockdown for 21-days, all efforts are made to contain the spread and utilise the buffer time to create a roadmap for the coming days as the virus doesn’t seem to slow down.

India Inc has joined the battle against Covid-19 by donating hundreds of crores. India’s  public sector oil companies have also contributed over Rs 1,000 crore to the Prime Minister CARES Fund to help in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. The companies that have committed support are:

BHEL

BHEL and its employees have committed Rs 15.72 crore to the PM-CARES fund. “Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and its employees have come forward to wholeheartedly help the nation in the fight against the Novel Coronavirus, COVID19. Aimed at extending a helping hand to alleviate the effects of this pandemic, BHEL has made a contribution of Rs.7 Crore through its CSR funds, while its employees have made a humble contribution of donating their one-day’s salary to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES Funda). To bolster the fight against this unprecedented medical emergency, a total amount of Rs15.72 Crore has been transferred to the PM-CARES Fund by BHEL,” it said.

ONGC

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, an Indian Multinational Crude Oil and Gas Corporation, has committed Rs 300 crore support to the PM-CARES fund to fight against the coronavirus pandemic. ONGC is a state-owned enterprise of the Government of India, under the administrative control of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Indian Oil Corporation

Indian Oil Corporation Limited, an Indian government owned oil and gas company has announced contributing Rs 225 crore in order to fight the battle against Covid-19.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation

Bharat Petroleum Corporation, an Indian government controlled oil and gas company will give Rs 175 crore to the PM-CARES for Covid-19 relief measures.

Hindustan Petroleum

Hindustan Petroleum,  an Indian oil and natural gas company has announced its contribution of Rs 120 crore to the PM-CARES fund.

Petronet LNG Ltd 

Petronet LNG, one of the companies in the Indian energy sector will donate Rs 100 crore to PM-CARES fund.

GAIL 

GAIL, India’s largest state-owned natural gas processing and distribution company, announced it has pledged Rs 50 crore to the PM-CARES fund for relief measures.

Oil India Ltd

Oil India, the second largest hydrocarbon exploration and production Indian public sector company will donate Rs 38 crore to the PM-CARES fund.
