Bengaluru-based Spark Studio bags $125,000 funding from Y Combinator

Sparks Studio, an e-learning platform that offers online extracurricular training & certification programs for kids aged 5 to 15, announced it has secured $125,000 in funding from Y Combinator.

The Silicon Valley incubator has invested in Spark Studio as part of their summer program (S21) batch. Y Combinator received 17,000 applications for the summer program and has chosen to invest in 400 companies globally.

Founded by Anushree Goenka, Kaustubh Khade, Namita Goel, and Jyothika Sahajanandan, the startup offers online courses across visual arts, music, and communications for children in the 5-15 years age group. It has over 15 courses across music, communications, and visual arts. The company has built courses with artists and pedagogy experts, that can be delivered online by educators and artists.

The investment will be used to build the technology, product, and content.

Goenka, cofounder and CEO at Spark Studio, said, “Y Combinator’s belief in the Indian extracurricular learning space is a validation of our model. Learning has shifted online & parents are looking for quality classes that they can meaningfully engage their children in.”

“At an early stage of building the company, working with the partners at Y Combinator has given us monumental insight into global ed-tech product practices,” said Khade.
