Ed-tech startup Unacademy acquires Kreatryx

Unacademy, a Bengaluru- based education technology startup, announced it has acquired Kreatryx, an online preparation platform for various competitive exams including Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or GATE in a cash-and-stock deal.

Post acquisition, Kreatryx will continue to operate as an individual entity. Kreatryx, a New Delhi-based online platform was founded by Ankit Goyal in 2014.

“As we seek to deepen our footprint across multiple categories, we are always on the lookout for like-minded partners who share the same vision and have made a difference within specific test preparation categories,” Gaurav Munjal, co-founder and CEO of Unacademy, said in a press statement. “With its strong presence in the GATE and ESE (Engineering Services Examination) segment, Kreatryx will play a pivotal role in further building our dominance in the segment and bring us closer to achieving our vision.”

Earlier this year, Unacademy raised $110 mn funding from Facebook and other investors, with a valuation of $510 million. In terms of such acquisitions, Unacademy had acquired Wifistudy in 2018, which is a YouTube-based online learning platform. Unacademy had claimed that it has over 90,000 active subscribers who log in to be tutored via livestream by 10,000 educators on its platform.
