Genius Learning Labs, India’s best quiz-based learning app built by IITians to learn Math, Science & English, announced that it has received $2 million angel funding from a clutch of top chief executives, according to the ETtech report.

Investors that participated in the funding round include Abhijit Bose – WhatsApp India CEO; Kunal Shah (CEO, Cred); Sandeep Tandon (Cofounder, Freecharge); Dhruv Agarwal (CEO, PropTiger); Justin Sway (CEO, MMone Online); Dan Lapus (Cofounder, Cvent); Nimish Kampani (President, Let’s Venture); Gaurav Gupta (ex-VP, Snapdeal), Bikram Bedi (ex-MD, AWS India) and Farooq Adam (Cofounder, Fynd), have backed the company. Institutional investors – Whiteboard Capital and VKG Ventures LLP.

The startup was founded by Housing.com founder Advitiya Sharma in 2016. The company already provides services to about 70,000 students as a B2B platform. After launching its B2C platform, Sharma plans to expand the service to about 500,000 paid subscribers in next 9-12 months, Advitiya Sharma said.

“We will utilize the funds to create products for teachers and grow fast to million-plus students in the next 12 months,” Sharma said.

India’s K-12 category is a $25 billion market with Rs 15,000-20,000 average household spend, Sharma, who is also its CEO, added.

“Learning content has failed to spark children’s curiosity, the average time spent on even the most popular educational app in India today is only 71 minutes; on the contrary, Genius Teacher clocks an average of 180 minutes,” said Abhijit Bose, WhatsApp India CEO.
