Deloitte to expand its workforce in India

Deloitte plans to double its Indian workforce in the next two to three years, said, Punit Renjen, CEO at the 18th edition of Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. The provider of industry-leading audit, consulting, tax and advisory services aims to tap into the talent pool that India offers.

He said, “We have 55,000 individuals who serve the most prominent clients and government in India and the world from India. We have centres in Hyderabad, Gurgaon and Pune that serve the world. Our plans over the next two to three years is to double that workforce. It is partly because of the talent arbitrage opportunity.”

The workforce expansion plan in India will augment both services to domestic customers and services exported from the country.

With operations in around 150 countries, the firm has over 300,000 professionals.

“Every business and chief executive officer I speak to are going to reassess and re-engineer their supply chains. It is an opportunity for India. India aspires to be a $5 trillion economy. We are certainly fully on board with that notion. I think it is an opportunity for India to get some of the supply chain to relocate to India.” – He further added.

He also stated that India’s potential is being noted by business leaders globally as they modify their business strategies owing to the new normal created by COVID-19 pandemic.
