Punjab Govt signs MoU with ISB-Mohali for Startup Track Acceleration Program

Punjab Govt’s ‘Startup Punjab Cell’ has collaborated with the Atal Incubation Centre(AIC) at ISB-Mohali, to setup ESTAC program (Enable Start-up Track Acceleration Program). The program focuses on areas of scalability for the government enabled and the private sector driven businesses.

Initially, the program will take off as a pilot project with an objective to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the state of Punjab. Such measures by the state government will provide requisite support  and access to an ecosystem that nurtures growth and generate employment in the state.

In her statement to media, Vini Mahajan, Additional Chief Secretary, Punjab, said-  “The collaboration will support technology-led, scalable and investible start-ups to tap into the new opportunities resulting in economic growth in Punjab.” 

Speaking on the collaboration, Rajendra Srivastava, dean at ISB-Mohali, commented, “AIC-ISB would work with Startup Punjab and other program partners to identify and refine the theme areas for the ESTAC program that are of key importance for the region and will run acceleration programs around these identified themes with advisory support from Startup Punjab.”

ESTAC will run acceleration program based on themes such as Internet of Things (IoTs), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Device Technologies, Agricultural Technologies, Agri-Startups and Electric Vehicles. Selected cohorts will be provided acceleration support such as master classes, workshops, mentoring, sessions, advisor and investor connect.

As we all know that technology is the future, Punjab govt is finding grounds for investing in technology-oriented projects. Recently, the Govt. identifies biotechnology as the key driver for the state’s economic development. So, the Punjab govt inked an MoU with the Department of Biotechnology(DBT)-Biotechnology Industry Assistance Council (BIRAC) to promote biotechnology innovation ecosystem in the State.
