Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has announced the appointment of Subhankar Sen as its new Director (Marketing). Sen, a company veteran with more than 30 years at BPCL, takes on the role at a time when the oil major is sharpening its focus on customer-centric innovation and cleaner mobility solutions.

Sen has held a range of leadership positions within BPCL, notably as Business Head – Retail (West), where he led the transformation of retail operations and introduced digital-first initiatives and experiential formats such as BeCafe at fuel stations.

In the lubricants space, he expanded the MAK Lubricants brand domestically and into overseas markets, and spearheaded a strategic localisation drive aligned with the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. Under his leadership, initiatives like MAK Lubricants Solutions helped improve customer efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

He has also been instrumental in BPCL’s brand evolution—contributing to key programs such as Pure for Sure, SmartFleet, BPCL-SBI Card, and the UFill digital fueling platform. As Oil Industry Coordinator, Sen helped advance initiatives in clean mobility, including EV charging corridors and doorstep diesel delivery.

Known within the organisation for a people-first approach and collaborative leadership, Sen’s elevation comes as BPCL continues its transition toward a digitally enabled and sustainable energy future.
