Uday Kotak and Kotak Mahindra Bank allocate Rs. 60 Cr. for Covid-19 relief operations

Kotak Mahindra Bank has announced a commitment of Rs. 35 Cr., to support the central and state government in their fight against Covid-19. Apart from this Uday Kotak, has offered his personal commitment of Rs. 25 Cr. to the PM CARES fund.

The funds will be directed at supporting the governments initiative towards preventive, curative, rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations. The pandemic has already impacted people across the globe, and may have major consequences for India as well. The central and state governments have been putting in place appropriate mechanism to control the spread, as well as to support people and communities directly and indirectly impacted by the pandemic.

Though, the overall number of reported cases appear to be in control for now ( around 1000, as reported till 29th March morning), the nation wide lock down has negatively impacted almost all businesses, small businesses, contract workers, and migrant laborers.

From the amount committed by the Bank (Rs. 35 Cr.), Rs. 25 Cr, has been committed to PM CARES fund, and Rs. 10 Cr. , to Maharashtra Chief Minister Relief Fund – Covid-19.

A number of business leaders and business have come forward to support the fight against the pandemic. Recently, Tata Trust announced their commitment of Rs. 500 Cr. , to fight the pandemic by supporting affected communities. As per the company’s statement the Tata Trust’s fund would be directed at Personal Protective Equipment for healthcare personnel, respiratory systems – ventilators, testing kits, modular treatment facilities for infected patients, and training and awareness for general public and healthcare workers.
