Aramco expands Google Cloud services to Saudi Arabia

Saudi Aramco Development Company, an Aramco subsidiary, announced that it has partnered with Google Cloud to offer low-latency, high-performance cloud services to business customers in Saudi Arabia.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is being added to the global network of regions on the Google Cloud platform, as part of a strategic alliance agreement signed between the company and Google Cloud this month, the company said in a statement.

Google Cloud will establish and operate a new cloud region in Saudi Arabia, while a new company will be formed after obtaining all the regulatory authorizations required to provide cloud solutions and services to business customers, with an emphasis on business within the Saudi Arabia.

This new cloud region will allow companies across the country to grow and expand their offerings, while offering digital products and services more quickly and reliably, the company adds.

The collaboration includes the rapidly expanding demand for cloud services in Saudi Arabia, which is expected to reach a market opportunity of up to $ 10 billion by 2030. The increased reliance on online services during the COVID-19 pandemic has further accelerated plus the shift to digital solutions.

“The implementation of Google Cloud services and infrastructure in Saudi Arabia will offer robust, reliable and agile solutions to meet the growing demand for IT and cloud services,” the release said.

Commenting on the development, Ahmad Al Sa’adi, Aramco’s senior vice president of technical services, said: “We live in a data-based world, and it is essential that companies not only have a secure infrastructure to protect business data, but also have tools that enable them to make the best use of them. Bringing Google Cloud to Saudi Arabia will provide significant benefits, now and in the future, and we are grateful to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology for supporting this initiative. Saudi business depends on its ability to successfully leverage cloud services.”

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian stated, “We are committed to helping companies modernize and accelerate their digital transformations with Google Cloud. With this Agreement, Google Cloud’s innovative technologies and solutions will be made available to global customers and companies on Saudi Arabia to better meet the needs of end consumers. “

Google Cloud offers its customers a variety of solutions, including Artificial Intelligence, intelligent analysis, data management, security, infrastructure and application modernization.
