Bindaas Bol! – Platform for employee interaction at Fortis Hospital – Mulund

 Bindaas Bol

Bindaas Bol! is a version of the town hall concept successfully adapted by Fortis Hospital, Mulund to provide a platform for employees to communicate with the Management team.

On a bimonthly basis, a senior management team member addresses a cross-section of employees of the hospital to highlight achievements of the previous months, share customer feedback ratings and upcoming initiatives. This is followed by an open house for employees to address queries, voice concerns or share ideas and suggestions with the concerned management team member.

The initiative is quite flexible and may also involve department-wise meetings with the head of the hospital in presence or absence of head of that department (skip-level).

This helps in ensuring that the “voice” of the employee is heard, and grievance resolution is smoother. Some employee suggestions may lead to new initiatives which help in nurturing ownership and accountability amongst employees. To the management, it gives a ground-level perspective and an opportunity for creating a one-to-one connect with employees.

Town hall concept is a term for an informal public meeting derived from traditional town meetings of New England. Everybody in a community is invited to attend, voice their opinions, and hear the responses from public figures and elected officials. In today’s heterogeneous communities with large populations, town hall meetings are held so that people can influence elected officials in their decision making or to give them a chance to feel that their voices are being heard.
