After one of its employees tested positive for the novel coronavirus, IT major HCL Technologies have assured its other employees about their safety.
According to a report by MoneyControl, the Noida-based company issued a circular to its employees informing about the happenings inside the company. As per the circular, which was accessed by MoneyControl, the employee infected with COVID-19 developed a mild cough and was in self-isolation for the past 14 days on the advice of the doctors.
The circular read, “We understand that this will worry you, and can assure you that we have completed the necessary checks and procedures that follow such an incident.”
The company further stated that “all prescribed protocols of sanitization and contact tracing” had been done.
It even added that all the other employees in the facility are in good health and are being monitored continuously. The company asked the employees to remain “calm” and follow basic hygiene procedures.
“We will continue to take all precautions and measures to ensure your safety,” it added.
As part of the precautionary measures, the company has also invoked the COVID-19 contingency plan, which includes remote working or working from home to aid social distancing in the impacted regions.
A global helpline has also been launched by the company in association with HCL Healthcare.
In an earlier statement released on 12th March 2020, by the company about their efforts at handling corona virus crisis the company had mentioned: ” Employee health and safety is of paramount importance and utmost priority at HCL. In sight of the unfortunate outbreak of coronavirus and WHO declaring it a pandemic, HCL is constantly monitoring all information sources including WHO alerts and is complying with all government advisories globally, as required. We have invoked our following COVID-19 contingency plan in the impacted geographies and are providing full support to our employees, wherever possible.“
” We understand that key to this fight against the virus, is the need for higher awareness and response. We are proactively invoking all required mitigation measures to ensure business continuity and are fully prepared to provide support to our clients and employees. In case there are any updates from the health authorities, we’ll be communicating and implementing it in the respective region right away. “
The steps announced by the company in their earlier statement included:
Maximize ‘Remote Working / Work from Home’ across all geographies to aid social distancing and ensuring a safe working environment for business critical employees who need to be onsite
In-person meetings have been replaced by virtual meetings; Travel Advisory across the organization has been issued with full precautionary measures and all non-essential travels have been suspended with immediate effect
Employees to avoid events with large gatherings
Launch of a dedicated Global Helpline in association with HCL Healthcare and an internal microsite for the employees with the theme #TakeCareHCL
Relevant communications regarding Do’s & Don’ts displayed within office premises for employees’ reference
Formed special global task force to actively monitor the situation and take necessary actions in consultation with External Agencies (International SOS)
