Chinese mobile handset manufacturer OPPO recently suspended operations at its Noida factory after six of its employees tested positive for the coronavirus.
The company has said that the operations will remain suspended until the company completes the screening of all 3,000 employees at the plant. The company had resumed the operations on May 15 after it got permission from the UP government for it with around 30% of employees.
“As an organization that places the safety of all our employees and citizens at the forefront, we have suspended all operations at our manufacturing facility in Greater Noida and initiated COVID19 testing for 3000+ employees, for which results are awaited,” OPPO India said in its statement.
The company has sent samples of all employees who have to join work for coronavirus testing and only those who test negative will be allowed to resume work following all safety protocols.
“We are undertaking stringent measures to keep the employees safe and disinfecting the premises,” the statement said.
OPPO, which has around 10,000 employees, began with some 3,000 and said they would work in rotation. It was among the companies that had restarted operations earlier this month after home ministry directives. The factory had reopened with about a third of its workforce, as specified in the government’s lockdown easing rules on May 2.
Manufacturing had been allowed by the central government in green and orange zones, or areas less affected by the coronavirus.
