Axis Bank has announced the appointment of Amitabh Chaudhry as CEO & MD. He will take over from Shikha Sharma, and his appointment is for 3 years effective January 1, 2019. Shikha Sharma will remit her position on December 31, 2018.
In its release to BSE, Axis Bank announced – “We wish to inform you that the Board of Directors (the Board) of the Bank at its meeting held today has taken on record the approval granted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to the appointment of Shri Amitabh Chaudhry as the Managing Director & CEO of the Bank. for a period of 3 years. with effect from 1 January, 2019 …”. He will hold the office till December 31, 2021.
He is presently the CEO & MD for HDFC Standard Life Insurance and has been with the company since January 2010. Earlier he was CEO & MD for Infosys BPO Limited.
He is an alumnus of BITS Pilani (1985) & IIM Ahmedabad (1987).
Meanwhile, HDFC Standard Life in a separate notification to stock exchanges has said – “We wish to inform you that Amitabh Chaudhry, Managing Director & CEO of the Company, has tendered his resignation”.
HDFC Life notification said – “We wish to inform you that meetings of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the Board of Directors of HDFC Standard Life Insurance Company are scheduled to be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 inter-alia to note the resignation, and consider the appointment of new Managing Director & CEO of the Company …”.
