Ashok Leyland has appointed Vipin Sondhi as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of the company for a period of five years from December 12, 2019 to December 11, 2024.
In a BSE filing, the company said, “The Board of Directors at their meeting held on December 12, 2019, based on the recommendations of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, has appointed Mr. Vipin Sondhi (DIN: 00327400) as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Company for a period of five years from December 12, 2019 to December 11,2024, subject to the approval of shareholders.”
Chairman, Ashok Leyland, Dheeraj Hinduja said, “Vipin has a strong, proven track record as a leader and is a passionate and hands-on professional. His known ability to drive performance working seamlessly with all key stakeholders will be valuable at Ashok Leyland. I am confident that the company will reach new frontiers under his stewardship and look forward to some very exciting times in 2020 and beyond.”

Vipin Sondhi has been leading large MNC organisations with more than three decades of experience in the manufacturing and engineering sectors. Vipin in his previous role was MD & CEO of JCB lndia and Member of JCB’s Global Executive team. Prior to JCB, Vipin had led Tecumseh lndia as the MD, where he served for over 12 years, of which six years as MD. The initial 10 years of his career were shaped in companies such as Tata Steel and Shriram Honda.
