Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO) has announced the appointment of Ramesh Nair as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. Bharat Aluminium Co. Ltd. (BALCO) was incorporated in the year 1965 as a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU). In 2001, Govt. of India divested 51 % of the company in favour of Sterlite Industries (I) Limited (A Vedanta Group company.)
Ramesh Nair has over 20 years of experience in the metals industry and has previously been associated with Sterlite Group in multiple roles. He also held the role of Chief Operating Officer for Sterlite Copper in his earlier stint. Anil Agarwal, Chairman, Vedanta stated on the appointment- : “I am glad to have Ramesh Nair as Balco CEO and have a strong belief that he will be able to steer BALCO to its full potential.”
