State-run Canara Bank Limited announced the appointment of Bhavendra Kumar as Executive Director on the company’s Board, with effect from October 9, 2023.
According to the Bank’s exchange filing, “In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to clause (a) of sub-section (3) of section 9 of the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1970, the Central Government has appointed Shri Bhavendra Kumar (Date of Birth: 03.10.1967), Chief General Manager, Canara Bank as Executive Director, Canara Bank for a period of three years, with effect from the date of assumption of office, vide Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services notification eF.no. 4/1(vii)/2023-BO.I, dated 9th October, 2023.”
Bhavendra Kumar joined Canara Bank on 10/03/1997 as Probationary Officer. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree and a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). During the course of banking career, he has worked in different capacities in different states such as Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka & New Delhi. He has also worked in Canara Bank, Shanghai Branch for a period of 3 years.
On becoming General Manager in 2020, he was posted to the Head Office of the bank at Bengaluru and was heading the Gold Loan Wing of the Bank. He was promoted to Chief General Manager in 2021 and was heading Delhi Circle Office with a business of more than 2.5 lakh crore rupees until he was elevated to the post of Executive Director.
