The US-based IT firm Cognizant, on Monday, announced that the company’s Board has elected Michael Patsalos-Fox as its new Chairman.
Patsalos-Fox, 65, succeeds John E Klein, who has served as Chairman for nearly 15 years and will remain a Board member.
Prior to his new role, Patsalos-Fox was working with Finance, Management Development and Compensation, and Nominating, Governance, and Public Affairs committees of Cognizant since July 2012.
Until October 2013, Patsalos-Fox was a Senior Partner at global management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, where he worked for 32 years. During his tenure at McKinsey, he served on its Board of Directors for 12 years and was Chairman for the Americas for 6 years.
“I am very pleased to accept the position of Chairman as Cognizant continues to grow and build its digital leadership worldwide,” Patsalos-Fox said in a statement. “On behalf of the entire Board, I want to thank John for his outstanding leadership and countless contributions to Cognizant. I look forward to his continued guidance and insight.”
Cognizant was founded in 1994 by its Indian-origin-American Vice-Chairman Francisco D’Souza, former President Lakshmi Narayanan from India and Sri Lankan techie Kumar Mahadeva.
In India, the firm has its software development centers in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, and Gurugram among other locations.
