Flipkart.com, has appointed Aparna Ballakur as the Chief People Officer (CPO) for the company. As the CPO, she would be heading HR for the flipkart.com team of about 5000 employees. This manpower size includes the logistics team at flipkart.com. She joins flipkart.com from Yahoo India, where she has been the Vice President – Human Resources.
Aparna has more than 15 years of experience in companies such as Adobe Systems, McAfee Software and Sasken Communication Technologies. Prior to Yahoo!, Aparna was heading Human Resources at Adobe Systems for India & China. In her role as an HR leader Aparna has been a part of start-up phases as well as growing organizations. She has an engineering degree from from the University of Mysore, and has graduated in the Executive Leadership Program from Cornell University and the Strategic Human Resources program from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Flipkart.com, has been one of the leading e-commerce players in India, and has spanned from a start up into a 5000 people organization in a short span of 5 years. The company has been invested in by Accel Partners & Tiger Global. Early this year the company had received an investment of $150mn at a valuation of $850mn from existing investors, i.e. Accel Partners and Tiger Global Management. The company has been able to ramp up well, and has been able to maintain its service focus thereby being able to grow and maintain its leadership position. The company had recently acquired another leading ecommerce company – letsbuy.com.
