Former Jet Airways chief executive Vinay Dube has joined GoAir in an advisory role. GoAir is an Indian low-cost airline based in Mumbai, India. It is owned by the Indian business conglomerate Wadia Group.
Dube had exited Jet Airways, earlier in May 2019, almost a month after the airline ceased operations due to severe liquidity crisis. As per a PTI report, citing sources – GoAir wanted to hire him for the position of the CEO, which is lying vacant since March this year. However, there has been a look-out notice against him from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in the JetAirways case and the decision could have gotten in legal tangle.
GoAir CEO position has been vacant since the exit of Cornelis Vrieswijk in February 2019. Since then, Jeh Wadia, the managing director has been discharging the CEO’s responsibilities. Vrieswijk , an ex Thomas Cook, EasyJet and Transavia Airlines executive, had joined GoAir in June 2018 and exited within 9 months.
It is understood that Dube has joined GoAir, at a time when the airline is expanding its international operations, and he brings with him a strong experience and expertise on this front.
