M V Iyer has assumed charge as Director (business development) of India’s largest natural gas company, GAIL (India) Limited, as per the PTI report.
Prior to this role, Iyer was working as executive director (projects) with the company, GAIL said in a statement.
“He has been part of the core team of GAIL for implementation of various long term and short term strategies in GAIL,” it said.
Iyer is also director in one of GAIL’s new joint venture companies Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL) for implementation of the North East Gas Grid.
“He has been associated with several non-core business areas like commissioning of the Dabhol LNG terminal and implementation of 100 MW wind power project, 5 MW solar power projects and current thrust areas of city gas distribution (CGD) projects within short span of one year,” the statement added.
Iyer is an electrical engineer, having 33 years of rich and diverse experience in GAIL in projects execution.
GAIL (India) Limited is a US$ 9.5 billion company, having significant presence in natural gas transmission, marketing and processing, LPG transmission, petrochemicals, City Gas and E&P.
GAIL possesses over 9000 km of pipeline network with a capacity of 220 MMSCMD and is laying 5000 km of new gas pipelines with a capex of nearly US$ 6 billion. GAIL has presence in Egypt and China through CGD projects and in Myanmar and USA for E&P.
