Yahoo Inc. has appointed Marissa Mayer as the company’s CEO. She would be the company’s third CEO in a year. Yahoo, had recently lost its 4 month old CEO Scot Thompson over issues regarding authenticity of his academic credentials. Prior to Scot , Carol Bartz had been the CEO of the company. She was fired as her tenure as the CEO could not re vitalize the falling fortunes of the company.
Ross Levinsohn , had been taking care of the business as the interim CEO, after the exit of Scott and it was being speculated that he was on way to be appointed as the CEO. Appointment of Marissa Mayer may have come as a surprise for some. Marissa Mayer will assume her role this week.
Mayer, is one of Google’s earliest employees (she joined the company in 1999), the first female engineer at the company, and has been engaged with various businesses at Google. She has also been involved with the design of the company’s search engine. She masters degree in Computer Science, from Stanford University.
