Intel Corporation, the world’s largest and highest valued semiconductor chip maker, has found the successor of Paul Otellini, the current CEO, internally. Brian Krzanich, who is at present the Chief Operating Officer of Intel since January 2012 will assume the role of CEO, at the Intel annual stockholders’ meeting on May 16. He will become the 6th CEO in Intel’s history. Brian, has progressed through a serious of leadership role since joining Intel in 1982. The announcement was made on 2nd May, subsequent to the above being elected by the Intel board.
As COO, Krzanich led an organization of more than 50,000 employees over the Technology and Manufacturing Group, Intel Custom Foundry, NAND Solutions group, Human Resources, IT AND Intel’s China strategy.
The board of directors also elected Renée James, 48, to be the president of Intel. She will also assume her new role on May 16, joining Krzanich in Intel’s executive office. James began her career with Intel through the company’s acquisition of Bell Technologies. In her most recent role as executive vice president and general manager of the Software and Services Group, she was responsible for Intel’s global software and services strategy, revenue, profit and product R&D. Renée James, as chairman of Intel’s software subsidiaries — Havok, McAfee and Wind River also currently serves on the board of directors of Vodafone Group Plc and VMware Inc. and was chief of staff for former Intel CEO Andy Grove.
