Flipkart has appointed Saroj Panigrahi, former head of JP Morgan’s legal department in India, as its senior vice president and general counsel.
Bijoya Roy, who has led Flipkart’s legal operations since January 2019 will transition to the role of vice president and head of legal at the company and will report into Panigrahi, CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said in an email to employees.
“In this role, Saroj will be responsible for all legal matters in Flipkart with particular focus on board management, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance,” Krishnamurthy said in the email.
Earlier, Panigrahi held leadership roles in Vodafone Group, Reliance Industries and Accenture. Panigrahi comes to Flipkart at a time when the company is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) scheduled for some time this year or the next.
