McDonald’s Corp. has fired its CEO, Steve Easterbrook, for having a relationship with an employee. In a statement, the company announced that the McDonald’s Board has determined that Easterbrook violated company policy related to workplace relationships, and demonstrated poor judgment.
Steve was involved in a consensual relationship with an employee. McDonald’s company policy does not allow managers to engage in relationships with direct or indirect subordinates.
Easterbrook, 52, was at the helm of McDonald’s Corp. since 2015. In an email to employees he said – “This was a mistake. Given the values of the company, I agree with the board that it is time for me to move on.” He will also be leaving the company’s board.
Chris Kempczinski, recently President of McDonald’s USA, has been named as the company’s new President and CEO.
