MetaProp—a venture capital firm focused on the PropTech industry—shared plans to accelerate its growth in APAC by appointing Satoshi Murakami as Region Director.
Murakami joins the firm after spending the past four years as Director of Corporate Venture Capital group at Sumitomo Corporation, as well as holding various roles in its Real Estate Division, focused on commercial real estate development in the Asia Pacific.
By bringing a full complement of real estate and tech expertise as well as relationships in Asia, Murakami will accelerate MetaProp’s APAC PropTech presence and support the firm’s efforts to double down on investments in the region, where the growth of early-stage PropTech companies increases every day, the statement said.
Prior to joining MetaProp, Satoshi led the development of the real estate business for Sumitomo Corporation, one of the largest conglomerates in Japan, where he built the organization’s entire asset cycle from real estate acquisition to disposition. In 2018, he was transferred to the United States where he steered the business’ venture capital arm to efficiently discover, invest, and partner with prominent startups and simultaneously scaling the strategy across the country. In this capacity, Satoshi led the research, due diligence, and execution of investments across the technology landscape, identifying synergies for Sumitomo’s core business lines from the portfolio.
Satoshi received a Bachelor of Science and Technology in Architectural Design from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan. Outside of work, Satoshi enjoys being active in crossfit and plays tennis; he can often be found relaxing by watching NBA games.
