HDFC Bank, one of India’s premier banks that provides a wide range of financial products and services to its customers, announced the appointment of Ramesh Lakshminarayanan as new Chief Information Officer, according to ET report.
Most recently, Lakshminarayanan worked with CRISIL, where he spent three years as Chief Technology and Information Officer. In CRISIL, Lakshminarayanan was responsible for the transformation of CRISIL’s businesses by leveraging technology, data and analytics. Prior to CRISIL, Lakshminarayanan co-founded a big data and analytics startup Pragmatix Services, which was later acquired by CRISIL in 2017.
Lakshminarayanan has vast experience of over 25 years, where he held leadership positions with major companies such as Citibank, ABN AMRO Bank, and Kotak Mahindra Group.
In his new role at HDFC Bank, Lakshminarayanan will be responsible for technology strategy, strengthening foundational technology, enhancing the digital capabilities and harnessing new age AI/ML technology solutions for the bank.

Speaking on his appointment, Ramesh Lakshminarayanan, Chief Information Officer, HDFC Bank, said, “I hope to utilize my experience and understanding of technology, new digital platforms, data and analytics to ensure that the bank maintains its pole position in leveraging technology.”
Lakshminarayanan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Mumbai University and an MBA from University of Pune.
