Sudhanshu Vats has resigned as MD and CEO of Viacom18 after an 8-year stint at the company, effective from April 15th. Viacom18’s leadership team will continue to manage their respective verticals, and will report to Rahul Joshi, MD, Network18 Group.
Sudhanshu has helped in expanding Viacom18’s footprint into new business lines, including digital (Voot), experiential entertainment and consumer products. He also spearheaded Viacom18’s growth in Hindi mass entertainment, regional, kids, music and English entertainment genres, and was instrumental in turning around the filmed entertainment business.
“It has been an extremely challenging and satisfying 8 years at the helm of Viacom18. I have had the privilege of working with some of the best minds in M&E industry to chart the growth story of Viacom18,” Vats said. “We have together built one of the most admired media company of brilliant storytellers with diversified presence across screens and platforms.”

Sudhanshu is a Management Graduate from the premier Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad. In terms of his experience, Sudhanshu had worked with Hindustan Unilever Limited, where he joined as a Management Trainee and worked with them for 20 years in various Sales & Marketing and General Management roles across categories and in all four regions in the country. During 2004-2005, Sudhanshu worked with BP in India as VP Marketing and successfully re-launched the Castrol Master brand.
