Infosys has reshuffled some senior roles among its executives. The company’s executive vice president and head of HR, Richard Lobo, has moved to a special projects role, and will work with Infosys CEO Salil Parekh, according to TNN report.
Sushanth Tharappan, senior VP and head of Infosys Leadership Institute, has replaced Lobo as the head of HR. Tharappan, who joined Infosys in 2000, has been in multiple roles, including as chief people officer of Infosys subsidiary Edgeverve Systems, and as global head for talent acquisition.
The changes in Infosys’ HR leadership comes four months after it appointed Shaji Mathew as its global HR head. Mathew, who was global head of delivery for the financial services, insurance, healthcare and life science segments, took over the HR role from Krish Shankar who retired in March.
As global HR head, Mathew’s responsibility spans Infosys and its subsidiaries, while as HR head, Tharappan will look at Infosys.
Lobo is a 23-year veteran at Infosys, and had been furthering the diversity agenda and is said to have played a key role in containing attrition using data modelling to identify high-potential candidates who were considering exiting the company and making timely interventions.
Other executive role changes include that of Dennis Gada, who has been elevated as EVP and global head of banking and financial services, overseeing part of former president Mohit Joshi’s responsibility. This change happened in May. Gada has P&L responsibility for the financial services business across North America, Europe, and Apac. A two-decade veteran at Infosys, Gada was part of the team that brought the $1.5-billion Vanguard deal to fruition.
Anant Adya, EVP and head for Cobalt at Infosys, is likely to succeed former EVP Narsimha Rao Mannepalli as the head of cloud, sources said.
Phil Fersht, CEO of US-based IT advisory HfS Research, said there is huge pressure to close major deals, and this is forcing a lot of executive movement across several major service providers. “Losing Mohit Joshi could have been damaging to Infosys, considering his high standing in the financial services community, but have had the good fortune of elevating Dennis Gada to lead BFSI in his stead. The recent mega-win of Danske Bank is a major fillip for the firm, and adding some new faces like Adya should help, but Infosys needs to raise their profiles to be more impactful in the industry like Ravi Kumar S and Joshi became. While Infosys has lost a small handful of executives, it is pursuing its strategy of promoting from within, which appears to be working better than some of its competitors,” he said.
