Vijay Kannan has been named as IT General Manager (CIO) – Global Lubricants, Sectors and Decarbonisation and B2B Customer at Shell. Earlier, he was IT General Manager (CIO) for Shell’s Global Commercial businesses.
As the global IT and Digital leader for Shell’s Lubricants, Sectors & Decarbonisation division, Vijay is charged with the responsibility of shaping and delivering the IT and digital strategy for both the businesses and enabling an integrated “customer back” approach to understanding and fulfilling the needs of its customers, the statement said.
“Decarbonisation is a top priority for Shell and the society at large and digital can play an important role in unlocking and accelerating the decarbonization pathways. From solutions that bring transparency to carbon footprint, optimizing value chains to increase energy efficiency and enabling collaborations that bring collective action, Technology and Digital would have a key role in the future decarbonization pathways across sectors” Vijay Kannan, IT GM – Shell.

Vijay Kannan carries over 18 years of experience across roles and industries, including the Chemicals/Paints, FMCG, and Energy sectors. He joined Shell in 2018 and has been associated with the company for around 3 years.
Prior to Shell, Vijay was working with Unilever for fourteen years, most recently as CIO – Hindustan Unilever Ltd and Unilever South Asia. Earlier in his career, has played multiple regional and global roles in IT during his time with Asian Paints and Unilever.
