Faurecia, a leading auto automobile and engineering component manufacturer has set up a new R & D facility in Pune. The R & D facility would be focused on automotive interior systems, automotive seating and auto exteriors. The company specializes in Automotive Seating, Emissions Control Technologies, Interior Systems and Automotive Exteriors, and is a market leader in all these segments.
The new facility can accommodate about 800 engineers. Presently the company has its presence in Pune through Taco Faurecia Design Center (TFDC), which initially was a 50/50 partnership with TACO (Tata Auto Comp System Ltd.). It was completely taken over by Faurecia in 2010. The company has about 300 engineers at this facility. TFDC specializes in product development, engineering and simulation for the global automotive industry. The company also has a R & D centre in Bangalore for development of emission control technologies, and a seat mechanism plant in Manesar, Gurgaon apart from other facilities. Emcon Technologies, a joint venture between Anand Automotive Limited and Faurecia Emission Control Technologies, France has its unit in Chennai and Bangalore.
Faurecia has a strong global presence with 270 production sites across 33 countries, and employs close to 84,000 employees. Faurecia is the world’s sixth largest and the Europe’s third largest automotive supplier.
