Hexagon AB, the Swedish technology group is planning to open an AI (Artificial Intelligence) Community Centre in Hyderabad next year. The center would be opened by Hexagon Capability Center India (HCCI) in collaboration with NASSCOM. HCCI is the research and development unit of Hexagon AB.
The company had recently conducted ‘Hexathon’, a 24-hour hackathon, and during the award distribution, HCCI Vice President and Country Manager Navaneet Mishra said that this center will be open to all students from class 8 to engineering graduates, and will offer free education on AI related topics.
Hexagon has signed an MoU with IT industry body Nasscom and will partner with Telangana government for the AI facility. The facility is expected to commence operations in the first quarter of 2020, in Hyderabad. The proposed facility will cover 350 students per year in multiple batches. The finer details, including the selection criteria for identifying the beneficiaries, is to be worked out.
HCCI, has been engaging with campuses and students and through their campus engagement programs they have set up of labs at academic institutions such as NIT Warangal and CBIT to enable students get familiar with Hexagon technologies.The company has been engaging with academic institutions through its senior employees designated as ‘Campus Champions’. These Campus Champions interact with colleges not only during hiring time but throughout the year. HCCI’s headcount is set to increase from over 1,400 to 1,500 this year.
