HONOR, a leading global technology brand for the youth, announced that it has partnered with Red Bull Basement to bring together the next generation of entrepreneurial students on one platform and enable them to drive positive social change through their technology-enabled innovative solutions.
With the initiative, HONOR aims to help university students to develop their unique idea by providing professional mentorship, tools/capabilities, and guide them build a solution that solves complex social problems.
To participate, currently enrolled university students aged 18 and above have to visit the Red Bull Basement 2020 website and upload a video of a maximum of 60 seconds that clearly and succinctly shares their idea with the public. Applications are accepted until October 25, 2020, by 7:30 PM IST. In addition to the shortlisted teams, HONOR will select a wildcard team globally, provide technology and mentorship to develop the application, and represent their innovative idea at the Global Workshop for the final phase of the competition.
Collaborating as the official Mobile Service and PC Partner, HONOR will provide mentoring expertise, HONOR MagicBook Series laptops and HONOR X Series smartphones for content development and testing, and a comprehensive Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) development kits that give participants the ability to program apps across a broad range of devices. HONOR will mentor the team throughout the competition and evaluate the entries at the final Global Workshop, where a winning team will be announced.

Red Bull Basement is an open platform for student innovators, encouraging them to tackle social and environmental issues with technology. The launchpad platform aims to connect and inspire all students to challenge the status quo by coming up with ideas that can lead to a better tomorrow. Red Bull Basement provides resources such as mentors, workshops, networking events, and more, both online and on participating campuses.
Receiving a progressive response across the country, Red Bull Basement on October 16 organized a launchpad workshop with Manipal University students to provide the industry-insights and encouraged them to realize tech-based solutions with a tangible impact for a brighter future. From HONOR India, Shashank Desai, DGM, Consumer Cloud Service Asia, Africa, and LATM, demonstrated to students about Huawei Mobile Services’ rich array of open device and cloud capabilities which would facilitate them to efficiently develop, scale, and flexibly monetize their idea at the global level.
