Salesforce, the leading CRM platform company has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Slack Technologies, Inc., an enterprise communications platform. The deal represents an enterprise value of approximately $27.7 billion.
Marc Benioff, Chair and CEO, Salesforce, in the company’s statement on the deal said – “This is a match made in heaven. Together, Salesforce and Slack will shape the future of enterprise software and transform the way everyone works in the all-digital, work-from-anywhere world.”

Salesforce CRM enables businesses to support their full cycle of customer facing business processes – sales, service, market etc. Slack has enabled businesses to enable collaboration of their teams and get work done, from anywhere. Slack will be the new interface for Salesforce Customer 360, an integrated cross-cloud solution that integrates multiple data sources. Slack Connect will extend the benefits of Slack to enable communication and collaboration between a company’s employees and all its external partners, from vendors to customers.
Slack has been serving leading organizations across industry across the globe. The platform serves Fortune 500 companies, such as Starbucks, Target and TD Ameritrade, along with leading academic institutions, non-profits, and governments in more than 150 countries. The deal enables Slack to expand its footprint across enterprise customers.
Together, Salesforce and Slack is expected to create the most extensive open ecosystem of apps and workflows for business. The transaction is anticipated to close in the second quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2022, subject to approval by the Slack stockholders, the receipt of required regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
