Edtech startup AntWak has raised more than a million dollars in its seed funding round led by Matrix Partners India. Other investors that took part in the funding round include Better Capital founder Vaibhav Domkundwar and CRED founder Kunal Shah.
Founded in 2020, AntWak is the brainchild of ex-McKinsey, ICICI, Jio, and ex-ISB & IIT alums. It offers paid and free professional courses across over 15 domains including digital marketing, cybersecurity, and data engineering created by experts, and senior professionals from companies such as HCL, Cognizant among others.
“We are a passionate set of educators focused on bridging the industry-academia gap through our experiential learning movement. Today, the movement brings together professionals from over 500 top brands,” said AntWak, Founder, Joybroto Ganguly.
The startup plans to use the capital raised to invest in content and education infrastructure, and build a marketing and inside sales team. It plans to add 50-100 people to the existing team of 30 employees.
Antwak will go live with its first paid offering in May and plans to graduate close to 5,000 students this year, Ganguly said. They will also help students with placements, he added.
The 16-week long paid offerings, which would be in a live format, are priced between Rs 50,000 – 70,000 according to Ganguly.
AntWak faces competition with startups like upGrad, Udemy, and Coursera among others.
“Making our large workforce more employable and equipping them with 21 st century skills is perhaps one of the most important strategic imperatives for India. AntWak is on a mission to provide high quality and relevant, yet affordable education to the next set of working professionals and help them kick start their careers,” said Rajat Agarwal, Managing Director, Matrix India.
AntWak is a revolutionary, byte-sized video platform for professionals to connect, interact, and share experiences thus helping make better career decisions. Its vision is to be the world’s largest network of professionals sharing and learning from each other thus becoming their better selves, earn more and live a passionate, healthy, and happier life.
