Nazara Technologies, a Mumbai-based gaming and sports media company, announced that it has made an additional investment in fantasy sports startup Halaplay through an equity swap of stocks from Kae Capital worth Rs 14.6 crores, according to an ETtech report.
Post investment, Nazara becomes a majority stakeholder in Bengaluru-based Halaplay Technologies.
Nazara has invested in Halaplay over the years in two tranches. First round of investment with Kae Capital was in November 2017 and the second round with Delta Corp. in March 2019, the company said in a press statement.
Founded by Swapnil Saurav, Prateek Anand, Ananya Singhal and Aman Kesari in 2017, Halaplay is a Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) platform that empowers serious and casual sports enthusiasts to play cash based quick, simple and interesting games.
Nazara Technologies has acquired 13 startups across sports media and gaming over the last 18 months. Some of its investments include, Nodwin Gaming, Next Wave Multimedia, Sportskeeda, Paper Boat Apps, Mastermind Sports, Moonglabs Technologies, Bakbuck, CrimzonCode, InstaSportz and NZWorld among others.
Nazara currently operates in India, Africa, West Asia, and has a small presence in Europe. Backed by Westbridge Capital, India’s leading Venture Capital firm, Nazara has a strong team of 250 people based out of India & Dubai.
