Securden raises $1.2 mn seed funding led by Accel Partners

Securden, an IT security startup that offers complete control over privileged access, visibility without barriers, and superior access governance across cloud, physical, virtual environments, announced that it has raised $1.2 million seed funding led by Accel Partners.

Other investors that took part in the financing round include Freshwork’s Girish Mathrubootham, Eka Software’s Manav Garg, CaratLane’s Mithun Sacheti and Axilor Ventures.

Securden is a leading provider of privileged access governance solutions that uniquely combine the key security principles of zero-trust architecture, least privilege enforcement, and continuous risk assessment to prevent cyberattacks, malware propagation, and insider exploitation.

“Our mission is to grant the right access to the right individual for the right time period. We also help in tracking who accessed what resources, so there’s a trail of everything,” said Balasubramanian Venkatramani, co-founder and CEO of Securden.

Founded in 2018 by former Zoho executives, Securden said it will utilise the fresh capital to grow its sales and marketing efforts, along with making investments in product development and research and development.

So far, the company has signed on clients such as 20th Century Studios and Harvard Medical School.

Venkatramani said the company would target large and mid-market enterprises but will keep its solutions affordable enough to cater to small and medium businesses as well.

“Securden has built a comprehensive top-of-the-line privileged access management suite of products. Customers love Securden, especially since it’s easy to deploy and makes the life of the IT team less worrisome from threats,” said Prayank Swaroop, partner at Accel.

Though privileged access governance providers have been around for a while, Securden makes it less complicated to use, easier to implement and costs less than other solutions, Venkatramani said.

Securden’s security solutions allow organisations to control access to IT assets such as servers, databases, network devices and cloud infrastructure, in order to prevent cyberattacks. It also permits secure remote access without using a virtual private network (VPN).

Securden is headquartered in Newark, Delaware and has an office at Chennai, India.
