Maruti Suzuki, stopped production at one of its plants after clashes between workers and managers. As a fall out of the clashes, one person is reported dead, while many others are injured. The incident occurred at the company’s Manesar plant.
Agitating workers burnt down the admin wing, and set fire to come cars parked outside the factory campus. Workers had earlier stopped production, post suspension of a worker due to some altercation with a managerial staff. The newly formed Maruti Suzuki Workers’ Union (MSWU), requested a revoke of the suspension order, and subsequently stopped production. The whole issue took a violent turn by end of the day.
Last year, the company had seen an indefinite strike on the same plant, resulting in production and revenue losses during the 59 days strike.
