The violence and unrest at Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Manesar on Wednesday, has claimed the life of Awanish Kumar Dev, a senior HR executive with the company. He was burnt during the arson and violence at Maruti’s Manesar plant, which involved attack on company’s executives, destruction of property – leading to closure of the plant and stoppage of production.
As per the company’s statement – “Awanish was an outstanding professional and team member, compassionate, soft spoken and deeply committed to cordial industrial relations. In the past year, he had been instrumental in the Company taking far-reaching steps to enhance the well being and working conditions of workers at the Manesar Plant.”
Awanish, an XISS 84 Batch alumni, had been a seasoned HR & IR professional, with over 28 years in leading manufacturing and engineering companies – Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited, Samtel, Minda, & Triveni engineering. He has been in his role with Maruti Suzuki, for last 2 years.
