Fintech unicorn PayTM recently announced that it has decided to shut all its 6 offices in Delhi-NCR for at least two days after one of its employees from Gurugram tested positive for COVID-19 (Coronavirus). PayTM has five offices in Noida and one in Gurugram, Haryana.
In an official statement, the company informed that it asked other team members of the infected patient to get themselves checked immediately, while other offices will remain shut for sanitizing purposes. The Gurugram employee had recently traveled to Italy.
Talking to news agency IANS, a PayTM spokesperson said, “One of our colleagues based out of Gurugram office, who recently returned from Italy post a vacation, has now been tested positive for Coronavirus. He is receiving appropriate treatment and we are extending complete support to his family.”
Commenting on the loss of business while the offices are closed, the spokesperson added, “However, there will not be any impact on our daily operations and Paytm services will continue as usual.”
As India reports more than 25 confirmed cases of the virus, many corporations have closed their offices and reportedly asked employees to work from home. Some have even put travel restrictions and cancelled all scheduled meetings. Tech giants such as TCS, Wipro, HCL and Intel have all announced action plans to safeguard their employees.
