Javier Soltero to Lead Google’s G Suite Business, was earlier taking care of Cortana at Microsoft
Google has hired former Microsoft Executive Javier Soltero to run its G Suite business, that includes Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive and other productivity apps. Soltero will join as Vice President of G Suite, which is a new role for the company. Previously, Prabhakar Raghavan led Google Apps, before shifting to lead the company’s advertising and commerce products.
Soltero had joined Microsoft in 2014 and left the company in 2018. There he served as Corporate VP for Cortana, Microsoft’s digital assistant. He also handled other roles including overseeing Microsoft Outlook. He joined Microsoft in 2014 when Microsoft acquired Acompli Inc., a company he founded. Before that he was an entrepreneur in residence at Redpoint Ventures, CTO at VMware.
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian, who joined the company in January has been on a hiring spree to make the company more competitive with Amazon and Microsoft. In July, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said, “ the company plans to triple the sales force in cloud,” and called it a key growth driver for parent company Alphabet.
