Banmali Agrawala (Ex Tata Power), has been appointed as President & CEO for GE’s – General Electric business operations in India. His appointment will be effective 1st April 2013, and he will succeed John Flannery. John is moving to the United States to take over as Sr. Vice President – Business Development.
All of GE’s business heads, will be reporting to Banmali, who would have a reporting to GE Vice Chairman John Rice.
Banmali had joined GE India in November 2011 as President & CEO of GE’s energy business.
Earlier, Banmali was with Tata Power as Executive Director for Strategy and Business development. He also served on the company’s board of directors. He would continue to lead the GE’s energy business in addition to his India CEO role.
He had started his career with Bajaj Auto’s R & D Department in Pune in 1984. Subsequently in 1987 he moved to Wartsila India, part of Finland-based Wartsila Group. In 2003, he was appointed as the Managing Director of Wartsila, and he led the company for next five years before moving to Tata Power.
