Top level leadership churn continues at Cognizant. Cognizant chief people officer Rebecca (Becky) Schmitt has resigned to pursue another professional opportunity and will leave the organisation effective May 5, according to TNN report.
Schmitt joined the organisation in February 2020. Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S informed employees of her resignation in a note, which has been reviewed by TOI.
Responding to TOI’s query, Cognizant said: “Becky Schmitt, Chief People Officer, will be leaving Cognizant effective May 5 for another professional opportunity. We thank Becky for her dedication and lasting contributions to improving our employee experience and wish her well. We have launched a comprehensive search for our new Chief People Officer, and are excited to continue building on the success we have had in advancing our people strategy.”
Kumar said that the global search is on to replace Schmitt and it would include both internal and external candidates.
Kathy Diaz, senior VP of rewards and HR mergers and acquisitions, would serve as interim CPO, he added.
Kumar, who joined Cognizant in January as the CEO, said that the IT giant would continue building on the “strong progress” in recent quarters to boost retention. “The entire leadership team and I remain focused on helping Cognizant become the employer of choice in our industry,” he added. He also credited Schmitt for bringing in various initiatives to make Cognizant a more employee-centric company.
