Korean auto manufacturer, Kia Motors Corporation, has recently announced that it has elevated Ho Sung Song to the position of President of the organization. Song, who was earlier the Head of Global Operations Division will now be succeeding Han-woo Park.
Post the appointment, Park will move on to an advisory role and continue to support the company’s business objectives.
In his new role, Song will spearhead the advancement of ‘Plan S’, the company’s mid- to a long-term strategy aimed at progressively establishing a leadership position in the future automotive industry.
With the ‘Plan S’, Kia aims at transitioning to electric and autonomous vehicles from the traditional internal combustion engine vehicles and includes a range of 11 new battery-electric vehicles by 2025. With these models, Kia is looking to achieve a 6.6% share of the global EV market (excluding China), while also attaining a 25% share of its sales from eco-friendly cars.
Song brings extensive experience after climbing up the ladder to the new role. His previous roles include President of Kia Motors France (Vice President), followed by Head of Export Planning Group, Kia Motors Corporation (Vice President). He was then appointed as President of Kia Motors Europe (Senior Vice President) and finally Head of Global Operations, Kia Motors Corporation (Executive Vice President) from which he has been elevated.
