It is learnt that US retail major Walmart has announced some top level changes for their India operations. These changes include the exit of Raj Jain as President for Walmart India Operations. Ramnik Narsey, presently Senior Vice-President for Walmart International would take over as President in the interim. The announcement were communicated today morning to Walmart India employees by Walmart Asia President and CEO Scott Price.
Raj Jain has been President of Walmart India and used to oversees Walmart’s joint venture with Bharti Enterprises Limited for wholesale cash-and-carry and back-end supply chain management operations in India.
Raj has a career spanning over 27 years and he had joined Walmart in Shanghai as president of emerging markets for Walmart International in 2006. He has also played a key role in Walmart’s entry into India after he relocated to India in 2007 to head the joint venture as President and MD.
Prior to joining Walmart, Raj Jain was regional head, marketing & supply chain for the Asia Pacific region at Whirlpool Corporation in Shanghai. During his 10 years at Whirlpool, he also served as managing director & CEO of Whirlpool of India Ltd. He started his career with Hindustan Lever Limited (HLL), and has an engineering degree from Delhi College of Engineering. Raj holds an executive MBA degree from the Kellogg School of Business.
Ramnik Narsey had joined Walmart in May 2013. Prior to this, he served as chairman and chief executive officer for Woolworths India.
