Akums, India’s Contract Drug Manufacturing Organization, has roped in Sanjay Verma as their Digital Transformation Group CIO.
Most recently, Verma served Somany Ceramics in the CIO capacity. In his past experiences, he has worked with leading companies such as Alps Industries LTD, standard charted bank and spent 9+ years as the IT head for J&K Laxmi cement.
Akums is among the re-known contract manufacturing pharmaceutical (CMRP) companies in India and holds 11- 12% shares of the overall drugs consumed in the country. It operates 2000 brands under its flag and is considered the trusted manufacturing partner for its clients. It also offers advanced technology in drug manufacturing to the largest pharmaceutical firms.
Moving to the pharma industry for the first time, Sanjay Verma said, “It is my first time working with a pharma company. The current assignment was challenging for me since pharma is a very regulated industry. When I say regulated, it requires a lot of documentation and, making mistakes cannot be ignored. Nevertheless, I am excited to work here as it falls under a novel cause for the nation.”
He has completed Executive Development Program in Digital & Social Media Strategies from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, and has an MBA in IT & Marketing from Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences. He holds MCA in IT from Kurukshetra University.
