SpiceJet, seems to have lost its third CEO is last 5 years. There are unconfirmed rumours about the departure of Niel Mills from the role of CEO. It is reported that the management of Spice Jet is yet to accept the resignation. His exit may be linked to some differences with promoters Kalanithi Maran. It is said that SpiceJets financials have not been looking great for some time now and the promoters are seeking external investment.

Mills exit comes a few months after the exit of the airlines Chief Commercial Officer Harish Moideen Kutty.  Mills had joined the airline effective 11th October 2010 from FlyDubai where he was serving as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In the past he had also been with one of Europe’s most successful low-cost airline EasyJet.  He was hired post a management revamp initiated by the Airlines new promoter and media magnet Kalanithi Maran, who in June 2010 had acquired 37.7 per cent stake in the airline.

He joined the airline in place of erstwhile CEO Sanjay Agarwal, who along with the airlines founder director Ajay Singh had exited during the revamp post Kalanithi Maran getting in the promoters role. Sanjay Agarwal had stepped in the CEO’s role in October 2008.
