Tata Communications Ltd has appointed Amur Swaminathan Lakshminarayanan as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. His appointment is effective 26th November 2019, and is for a term of five years. His appointment as MD & CEO shall be subject to necessary approvals of the shareholders of the Company.
The company has made this announcement in their statement to the exchanges today. Earlier, in Oct 2019, the company had announced him as MD and Group CEO designate of the company. A company statement then said, “As MD & CEO – Designate, Lakshminarayanan will advise the interim management committee of Tata Communications. Upon receipt of necessary regulatory approvals, the Board of Tata Communications will subsequently appoint Lakshminarayanan as the MD and CEO of Tata Communications.”
He was most recently with TCS, and he has an experience of over 35 years in a broad range of leadership roles. His roles at TCS included – President and CEO of TCS, Japan, Global Head of Telecom, Media and Information Services, HiTech and Utilities, and Head of TCS UK and Europe. In his wide career span, he has worked in the USA, Hong Kong, Australia, the UK, Japan and India. He is a Mechanical Engineer from BITS, Pilani and is an alumnus of London Business School.
