Formula 1 and Tata Communications have announced entering a multi-year strategic collaboration. Tata Communications will be the official provider of Formula 1 broadcast connectivity around the world.
Tata Communications will empower Formula 1 with end-to-end managed global network services for video distribution, thus transforming the motorsports experience. To this end, the company will facilitate the transfer of over 100 video feeds and over 250 audio channels to be streamed between the Grand Prix venue and the UK F1 Media and Technology Center throughout the race weekend. in less than 200 milliseconds, allowing F1 to be broadcast to over 500 million fans in over 180 territories worldwide, the statement said.
Tata Communications’ industry-recognized, media-built connectivity solutions will enable Formula 1 to transform broadcast content production around the world, continuing to support the sport’s drive for agility and sustainability. Following the introduction of Formula 1’s remote broadcast operations in 2020, Tata Communications has enabled a 34% reduction in the company’s travel freight costs, the statement added.
