Mesh7 announced it has been acquired by VMware. BMO Capital Markets acted as exclusive financial advisor to Mesh7 on this transaction.
“We are thrilled to announce that Mesh7 is to be acquired by VMware ! A huge ‘Thank you’ to all our customers, partners, investors, and most importantly all our employees and our founders Amit Jain and Pratik Roychowdhury for contributing towards this huge milestone! We’re excited about this next phase in Mesh7’s journey as part of VMware and continuing to lead the transformation of modern cloud-native application security,” according to the company’s LinkedIn post.
“Since our founding, Mesh7’s mission has been to enable deep application layer security for distributed and modern cloud applications that run anywhere in a platform-agnostic and cloud-agnostic manner. Today, we’re extremely thrilled to take the next phase of our journey and announce Mesh7 has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by VMware,” the company said in a statement.
Post acquisition, Mesh7 and VMware will work together to continue driving stronger and better security from development through run-time, and simplifying DevSecOps, it said.
VMware Tanzu Service Mesh along with Mesh7’s API Security Mesh will enable customers to more effectively deploy distributed services and application layer security for modern cloud applications, the company added.
By joining forces with VMware, we expect to be able to accelerate the adoption of Mesh7 by enabling DevSecOps as an inherent part of VMware’s modern application platforms and solutions. Developers, security, and operation teams will each gain a better understanding of when, where and how APIs are communicating, even across multi-cloud environments, leading to better DevSecOps, the company said.
“We would like to thank all our employees for their passion, energy, hard work, and dedication that enabled us to build Mesh7’s fantastic technology that has resulted in this exciting outcome. We believe this team will bring to VMware deep expertise, experience, skills, and rich diversity, with extensive backgrounds in application layer security as well as in modern cloud-native technologies,” the company said.
“We would also like to thank The Fabric, our co-creator for working closely with us to bring Mesh7 up to this juncture. We would also like to thank our other investors for their support all along the way. Immensely valuable insights from our investors enabled us to meet many of our milestones as we progressed,” it added.
