The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (HSIIDC) announced that it has allotted 140 acres of land to Walmart-owned Flipkart for Rs 432 crore. Flipkart will use the land to set up its largest fulfilment centre in Asia.
HSIIDC said that the project will give impetus to further investments in the region and shall be a prestigious project for Haryana. It is expected that the project will create more than 12,000 jobs in the state.
The allotment was approved by the Executive Empowered Committee of HSIIDC in its meeting held on October 7 under the Chairmanship of Principal Secretary to Haryana Chief Minister- cum- Chairman HSIIDC, Rajesh Khullar.
Khullar informed that in view of the increasing demand of warehousing from e-commerce companies, HSIIDC has set up a warehousing hub over an area of 285 acres in Patli Hazipur, Manesar.
The project will be developed in three phases and is expected to cost Rs 3,500 crore. The first phase is likely to be operationalised by 2022.
Around 12 supply chain assets in Haryana, Flipkart employs more than 10,000 people in the state and has created lakhs of indirect jobs.
